Fr. Luke (Anthony) Edelen was born 29 December 1950, He attended St. Benedict's Preparatory School, where he participated in the Drama Guild. After receiving a B.A. from Fordham University, he entered the Benedictine Abbey of Newark, pronounced simple vows on 29 September 1973, and was ordained a priest on 7 June 1980. He served as pastor of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church (Newark, N.J.) from 1982 to 1992.
